Some would argue that finding the right prospects is the key to successful selling. Finding the right prospects doesn’t necessarily also need to be too hard. After all, how is your business going to thrive if you don’t have a steady flow of the right prospects?
If you have been around the industry for even a little while, you most likely will have come across the term “staying in phase 1″ or at least words to that effect. What they are saying is, that we continually must be “prospecting” or at least on the look out for someone suitable to join us in our business.
This then leads us back to finding the right prospects.
Let’s be honest here, do you really want to sponsor the first person who says YES to your opportunity and hope that they are the one? Chances are, they won’t be the one and will not even be in your business come 60-90 days from now.
To me and many other leaders, the right person always starts with the one who is genuinely looking right now for an opportunity. They are not suddenly looking because you thrust a DVD or magazine under their noses, they were actually already searching for a better way.
The right prospect comes in many shapes and sizes and will come into your life at exactly the correct moment for you and them alike. Now I am not suggesting it is all about the correct alignment of the moons or other such things, no, simply, you will be attracted to each other through unseen means. (subject for another post).
A little like the saying “when the student is ready, the teacher appears”.
So congratulations, you have found the right prospect, now what? Do you have a system in place to be able to train your new prospect and give to them the knowledge and resources they will need to be successful? Because folks, you will need to be ready the moment they say yes, I want in.
It becomes your responsibility to be bale to train and mentor them and indeed assist them to be profitable within their first 60-90 days. This is the key to retention of representatives in your business.
Happy prospecting to you and wishing you tons of success.
