Marketing to success, just raise your hand when you need help! Have you ever been to the ocean and gone swimming in the patrolled area of the beach? You know, the one with the flags marking out the safe areas. And of course, they are manned by heathly young lifeguards or lifesavers whose responsibility is your safety. The same scenario exists in today’s business world, please read on for more…
I would like to suggest that marketing to success on the Internet is much like taking a swim at the beach. Many parallels can be drawn and here is a few of my own personal favourites.
1. You gotta learn the rules: It is no use going to the beach and swimming outside of the patrolled area and expect that someone will be there to rescue you if you get into trouble. You gotta learn to abide by the rules of surfing and swim between the flags. Same applies to Internet marketing, you need to learn a few basic rules of conduct, operation, marketing, business call it what you will. Make no mistake, there are definite guidelines that need to be followed if you indeed wish to be a success online. If on the other hand, you only wish to “splash about a little” then no foul.
2. When you find yourself struggling, raise your hand: I clearly remember a time when I was much younger and actually needed to be rescued by a lifeguard from a strong rip in the ocean. I immediately stopped struggling, relaxed a little, raised my hand to call out for help and then followed my rescuers instructions to the letter. The fact that I am writing this article indicates that all went well.:)
But it could have been a different outcome if I continued on my own believing that I could make it to safety all by myself. Again, why on earth would you continue to struggle in network or Internet marketing and not put up your hand to a leader for help? Come on, we can’t do it all by ourselves and we were never meant to do so! If you are struggling with some element of your business, raise that hand by shooting off an email, signing up for that course you know will help, picking up the phone and calling a mentor or coach. Make sure you reach out, because it is only through reaching out to others that you will rise up.
3. Just remember, you need to keep kicking: How long do you think you would be able to tread water successfully without a strong and constant kick from under the water? Will just a few arm movements be enough for you? I seriously doubt that you can stay afloat long enough with arms only, you need a strong kick also. Marketing to success is no different at all. Your kick is your constant action, always stepping out and taking that next right step to produce another article or video or blog post or whatever your style may be. Just make sure that you keep the kick strong in your marketing and indeed your learning so that you don’t end up as a statistic.
We need you to be successful and to chase after your dreams with everything you’ve got, so go for it NOW!!!

Wow, great article Peter!
I love the personalization you gave it.
It’s so important to speak up when you need help. Without help it’s impossible to do as well as you would with it. Good point.
And never, ever, quit. That’s a guarantee of failure.
I love this article Peter, thanks for sharing your experience and advice.
